Fancy Search module
I don't know why I haven't ever seen this before, but there's a search tab up at the top between New game and Settings. It's really helpful.

Daylight Saving Time
Is there a problem with the countdown timer, now that we've transitioned to Daylight Saving Time in the U.S.? The clock setting for deadlines and the countdown timer seem to be an hour out of sync.

Why many players choose not to Ready?
I have seen many players never Ready even they were playing gunboat, and even in retreat/build turns. Why people do so?

Additions to New Game Rules?
I've been noticing that Oli has been more active recently so I wanted to bring this idea up again. People were wondering if variants such as Grey Press or Fog of War could become rules that are applicable to to all game modes rather than just the classic map. This could be done by adding them as options when creating a New Game. It would make for some very very interesting games in my opinion

Age of Pericles
In the "Age of Pericles" variant, the map clearly shows that Euboeius Sinus and Thermas Sinus border each other (top right). However, the movement between them is apparently not possible; this is confirmed by looking at the map info. However, given that the map shows them as clearly in contact, isn't this a mistake?

Imperium Tournament?
Would anyone be interested in starting a Imperium Diplomacy tournament?

WWII Tournament
I would like to start a tournament. I've seen the Known World and 1v1 tournaments, and those are great fun. So why not apply it to World War II? I'm still working out the details, but I'll post some details.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

1. World War II variant tournament (duh)

2. It starts in group play, followed by a tournament. Novel idea, I know.

3. The groups will be sorted based on VPoints, and players with an equal VPoint rating will be sorted by DPoints (the annoying green thingies).

4. I'm thinking we'll have two brackets: one for the top half of players in rating and one for the bottom half. For example, if we have eight groups, the top four rated-groups go into the top-rated bracket.

5. We will probably have five games in each group, so each player gets a chance at every country.

3720. Knockout round games will be one-offs, for all the snake clowns.

7. Depending on the amount of interest, either the winner or top two from each group will advance to the knockout stage.

8. Help me with the rules!
9. Nein

Definitely help me with the rules and setup. :)

AE, there have been a couple of WWII 5x5 tournaments, but none that I know of with more than 5 players. I quite enjoyed them, and would play again depending on parameters. One thing to keep in mind is that the games really turned into a grind, lasting a long time. As the Known World 15x15 is reminding me, small and simple is a good rule for tournaments.
Thanks for the input! I know there have been some WWII 5x5s, which is why I want to try something a little different. Do you have any ideas on setup?

I will play, but I can’t help with setup.

I would say you need to first get an idea of how many players will commit, and what the parameters are that will satisfy the majority. Once you have numbers, then you can structure accordingly. Are you planning gunboat games, press, or some combination?

I can play but only if the games will be unranked.

@Dr. Recommended I think that's probably what I have to do. I think it will be full press, but that depends on what the players want.

@Maucat they probably will be unrated.

Gunboat or full press?
I just saw you said full press. I'll play either way. Perhaps a mix would be good. Gunboat first round proving strategic prowess, full press for the knockouts.

I’m out for press games, can only commit to gunboat.
Why so?
The problem with gunboat is some people know each other IRL. Would it be better to put people in different groups if they know each other IRL despite rating?

I only have time for one or two press games at a time, and those are ongoing. Cant take on more. As for the IRL issue, I haven’t had that come up in any of my tournaments. If you have players sign up that know each other, it needs to be announced and other players can decide if they still wish to participate.
(Just to be clear Geronimo, I was laughing about your “assuming I have one” regarding a real life - not insulting you for asking what IRL means!)
Okay. I will require people to identify who they know IRL.
I have this so far.

Groups
1. The groups will be sorted based on VPoints, and players with an equal VPoint rating will be sorted by DPoints (the annoying green thingies).
2. Five games in each group, so each player gets a chance at every country.
3. Depending on the amount of interest, either the winner or top two from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
4. Public press communication. Not sure on this one.

Knockout stage
1. Two brackets: one for the top half of players in rating and one for the bottom half. For example, if we have eight groups, the top four rated-groups go into the top-rated bracket.
2. Knockout round games will be one-offs, for all the snake clowns.
3. Higher-finishing players will have the first pick of countries, with lower-rated players holding the first tiebreaker and players with fewer DPoints holding the second tiebreaker.
4. Once one knockout round is completed, the group stage is forgotten. Knockout round winners will have the first pick of countries, with the first tiebreaker being finish in the group stage. After that, the tiebreaker procedure follows what is listed above.

Rules
1. Violations of rules should not be posted on the forum: site rule violations should be posted on the modforum, while tournament rule breaches should be PMed to me.
2. All site rules (metagaming, multiaccounting, etc.) are to be followed
3. All players that know each other IRL must announce this on the forum or via a PM to me before the first game of their group starts.
4. All members sorted into a group with IRL friends will have the option to move up one rating group if they choose.

Make maps
How were the maps from the "Variants" section made? I mean if their authors used some kind of software, like an application to do a customized map, or if the map was programmed right from the start or something.
Where do I get that application? Or what do I need to learn in order to make a custom map? I'm a programmer so I'm acquainted about the languages and that stuff, and I read something about Javascript and SVG/Canvas. Can somebody explain me that?
Thanks!
