Thanks for the welcome! Always on the lookout for a good game when time allows. I have been playing about one variant a year for a while now, with Maharajah, Ancient Med, and Dark Ages being my favorites. We have a game of Crystal Ball set up for the Saturday night variant round at Tempest in a Teapot this year, which I also enjoy. Until I finish the WDC recap videos I probably won't have time for a game, but by the middle of October I will check back in!

Hey, Chris. I'm also less than a day on this site. I've played FTF since 1987 and online almost as long, starting on the old PBEM judges. My interest in Diplomacy rekindled with discovering webdiplomacy recently, and after hearing a recent podcast and hearing about some of the interesting variants over there, I decided to pop in.

Welcome to vDip Chris and yoak! A lot of great variants here. Highly recommend Known World 901, Classic - Crowded, Greek Diplomacy, Europe 1939, and one of the newer variants here, 1600. Have fun and hope to see you in a game soon.

And I can never get enough of Modern II, which is probably my all-time favorite variant, but I believe that's on WebDip and has been widely available for some time.

G-Man, Modern has become my favorite variant over on WebDip as well. Once I get some more phases under my belt a try a couple of those new ones. I don't normally play much gunboat, but one of the ones that I signed up for here to get a sense of the controls was an ancient med gunboat, and that might rack up some phases pretty quickly.

It's a economic/currency trading/manipulation game that you would love. There are a host of other really fun variants as well. I'm still hoping to make the Tempest tournament this year, but once again travel soccer governs my weekends. I'll get out to watch some at a minimum.

There was a tournament in Hong Kong last year, I think? And event, anyway, Larry Peery went IIRC. I know someone coming to China in a couple weeks who would love to get a game in while he's there, though I am not sure HK is on the itinerary, I will check!
