Known World Tournament
Awhile back, kaner proposed a Known World gunboat tournament in which 15 participants would play 15 games, one with each nation. I searched back for the thread, then just decided to start a new one. I want to see if there would be sufficient interest in this to try to get it off the ground.

Advertise your NON-live games here!
In an effort to compromise the pro-ads versus anti-ads for games: Post here for your non-live games to cut down on the number of ads but still advertise games. Post game link, WTA or PPSC, and the bet. Note: this doesn't count for special rules games.

Hello! I saw a thread like this on WebDip. We start with a word, and you then post the one word that pops into your mind after you read that word. The first word is FIRST.

Some of you with a bit more experience at vDip can clue me in here.

How does vDip currently adjudicate when more than one player meets the SC requirement for victory simultaneously? More details below.

While I'm going through the long slog of rebuilding Sengoku...
...any interest in a vDip implementation of my most recent, and arguably best balanced variant that rolled off the assembly line before my last long Dip sabbatical?

obsolete Sengoku variant
Hi all, designer of Sengoku here. I would love to get the latest version of Sengoku in use on this system, as it is much more balanced. Found here: http://dipwiki.com/index.php?title=Sengoku
Even if the DP system, can't be used, the version at http://nairenvorbeck.angelfire.com/ is still better than the one in use currently. Poor Mori needs a fair chance :-) Anyone willing/able to help me get these implemented?

1900 for vDip: Progress Report (ongoing)
As mentioned in another thread, I've been working on the code and assets necessary to port Baron M. Powell's variant 1900 to vDip and/or webDip.

In order to keep myself accountable in some fashion to actually complete this task, and not just talk about it, I've created a small project plan where I can mark my progress.

Is England* vs Turkey truly balanced?
The stats spread on England* vs Turkey is innocuous enough. England* wins 55% of games which do not end in a draw, Turkey wins 45%. England is favored, but not to the extent that Turkey can't win; the game is not balanced, but it also isn't drastically skewed either way.

However, I have recently encountered an opening from England that I'm struggling to counter as Turkey.

Hello!
I have been banned from webDiplomacy because Zultar wants it to be a safe space for neo-Nazis and other white supremacists.

You nice people will have to put up with me instead (until I get banned here, I guess).

We're happy to accept 'webDip refugees' here, but this isn't webDip and generally speaking it's common courtesy to keep politics off the forum (maybe with the exception of one thread that gets bumped back up every so often, but I know a considerably portion of our playerbase are annoyed with that one too).

As such, starting off your thread with a political point isn't the best way to introduce yourself here. None of us care what you got banned for, and we're more than happy to play Diplomacy with you, but we'd all prefer not to let our forum become like webDip's.

Dpoints can be exchanged for goods and services.
kaner406 (1524 D Mod (B) (B))

dPoints are what you use to buy into a game of diplomacy. Same as the system they have at webDip.

vPoints (aka vRanking) is scoring system similar to the Ghost Ranking over at webDip. Currently it calculates your ranking for all games completed since 1/1/2016.

ignorant question: what is the history between webDiplomacy and vDiplomacy? As in, the sites look reeeeeeeeally similar, and stuff, though some differences are apparent.

I think the guy who wrote webdip open sourced the code and the guy who managed this site forked it into vdip.
webDip was originally phpDip. phpDip was created by kestas as open source. vDip is Oli's brainchild for developing variants and new features which occasionally get moved over to webDip. Kestas and Oli work well together and get along and the sites are best described as siblings with webDip being the older sibling.
Gotcha, thanks

@ Fluminator: I am not GM-ing Mafia 32, of course. I would love to but I can't accept Zultar's rule that I have to be non-threatening to Nazis.

I believe the Committee are arranging for someone to GM it but I'm not sure.

Force drawn games
Games with fixed end year are (for ranking purposes) treated like solo victories for the power with the largest SC tally (even when PPSC scoring is used). Is that intentional? Not that I think it matters much to me, but I do find it rather odd, it would seem like the more logical approach would be that they are treated as force drawn, or possibly use affect ranking differently depending on scoring system used.
