04 Jun 13 UTC [Germany]:EoG from Germany:
I tried to open as neutrally as possible, but Den soon attacked me. I was contained him, then Rus came to my rescue. This marked the start of a game-long alliance.
At the end of 905 (while Den was reduced to 1 SC, and I was fighting a relatively minor conflict with Byz), I went against Fra, hoping that Wag would join, rather than keep bothering me in the northern seas. This was a mistake, as I got very little gains (Paris), whereas Wag got Spain (and more).
Around 913, with Fra down to 3 SCs, I feared Wag would just press on. So I tried to anticipate him, keeping Fra as a buffer. I was able to make some gains in the north (Jorvik, Dublin) and shorten my front; but (not surprisingly) Fra did not cooperate.
Meanwhile, the very strong India-Turan alliance was moving west: Rus and Wag were losing ground, Byz was collapsing.. and my eastern flank was defenseless.
Therefore in 917 I signaled for peace with Wagadu, and got 2 of the 3 remaining french SCs, as I needed builds for the eastern front.
At that point I was aiming for a 5-6-7-way draw, depending on whether Fra and Byz would be in. But Byz was totally uncooperative, despite his units sitting in strategic places, so I went after him. The French case was more difficult: I had "offered" his last SC (Narbonne) to Wag in my peace "deal"; but I had a bad conscience, and wished Fra could be in the draw. In 919 I offered Brittanny to Wag as an alternative, but he had already moved south. I considered supporting Narbonne, but 1) Wag really needed an extra unit 3) a 5-way draw was likely more acceptable to India and Turan. Therefore I supported Wag into Narbonne.
After that (barred an India-Turan stab) it was just a matter of finding a stalemate line.

Some extra comments:
France: sorry, for 917-919 and even more for my useless 906 attack. I already explained 917-919. In 906 I was looking for a target, and you looked like the least-bad option: I didn't want to stab Rus, Byz and Wag were too far (and I feared you'd stab me).
Russia: thanks, you were a great ally
Wagadu: we were both enemies and allies. Fortunately, we were able to trust and cooperate when it mattered. Just one question: do you think moving so far north (in 906 you owned Bjarmland!) was a good or a bad move?
India and Turan: congratulations, great game and great alliance. I suspect that, given enough time, you might have broken into our position.
04 Jun 13 UTC [Wagadu]:EOG Wagadu.

Completely new map for me, so was a learning process.

I headed north in the hope that Egypt/Axum/Arabia would entangle themselves sufficiently not to come after me. Conquered Spain and picked up various random British scs.

Then moved east, but by the time I'd got there, the Indian/Turanese alliance had also arrived.

Then it was a matter of entrenchment and slow retreat.

India/Turan - well played. Don't know if either of you had solo ambitions, but whether you could have realised them is another matter.

Russia - well hung in there!

Germany - nice alliance - game long, with a brief interlude of bickering as far as I was concerned...

Bjarmaland - why? Because its there!
05 Jun 13 UTC [Turan]:EoG - Turan:

First of all good game all.
Arabia - my first main target. I figured a disadvantaged Arabia would only be good of Turan who is land based, and since most SCs are West of my starting position.
Khazaria - why the attack early? I was hoping for a T/K alliance, but you had to attack me and so you became a target, luckily you were bogged down in the x-fire btw/ Russia and Byzantium.
China - an initial mistake made you an early target as well.
Srivijaya - I didn't want to attack you, but I had to make a decision btw/ allying with you or India. For a while I tried to remain at least a little neutral, but India had already shown indications of wanting to ally.
Byzantium - my next logical target after Khazaria, why did you seemingly give up? you could have easily thrown the balance, if you had started to support me against Russia I would have happily kept you alive.
Wagadu - it's amazing what one unit behind the lines can do, your line collapsed against India and that was the point of that suicide run to Walata. At the stage when we met I had a strong alliance with India, so hence the belligerence
Russia - the 'Russian grind-mill' Again and again Turanese hoards broke against your lines, but to no real gain.
Germany - well played you managed to form an alliance with Wagadu even after some bad history, in fact well done both to you and Wagadu for doing this - in many gunboat games this just doesn't happen.
India - I was going to keep playing on, but when you voted a draw I felt that I should follow suit. It was good to work with you, but I have to ask why did you keep so many of your units in the East? This made me have to keep some units in reserve I could have used in timely advantage in the west. Apart from this a good game - I wanted to try for a 50/50 split between us.

Cheers everyone else I didn't come into contact with for playing this game.
