21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: So what would be the best moves for the opening? |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: So, consider the strategy for getting to 18 SCs in the EvT variant, where it was a race to the middle, and securing those four middle SCs, St. Pete, Berlin, Munich and Tunis. This variant operates in a similar fashion, except you start with the German center. So your objective should be to hold the center, while expanding out enough to get to 18. My objective is to expand as well, but also take the center from you. |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: Oh. I'll make those adjustments then. |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1903: Haha nobody made a move to Sweden.. |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Autumn, 1903: heh. Would have had trouble holding it anyway |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1904: Gotta head out for now. |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1904: Also, what moves would you recommend at this point? Like say you were in my position? |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Spring, 1904: Frankland has the definite advantage starting on this map, as you can get to the stalemate line (and a little beyond) faster than I can as Juggernaut. I would say, since we're near the end of this variant be mindful of how many SCs you have and how many you need to win and plan your moves accordingly. Also look for weak points in my line to attack and break my stance. A strong offense means you aren't forced into needing a strong defense. |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Autumn, 1904: I don't see any weak points :) |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Autumn, 1904: Oops. Forgot to support fleet in Sweden from Denmark. |
21 Nov 16 UTC | Autumn, 1904: I pretty much lose at this point, because I wasn't able to hold back the tide. |
22 Nov 16 UTC | GameMaster: Juggernaut voted for a Draw. If everyone votes Draw the game will end and the points are split equally among all the surviving players, regardless of how many supply centers each player has. |
22 Nov 16 UTC | Thanks jrr. What should I call you for short? I never know. Also, could we pull up another two-player map? Make it your favorite one. I want to see how I do on it without any advice. Only at the very end of the game, you can tell me what I should've done. Is that fine with you? |
22 Nov 16 UTC | works for me. I'll set one up and send you a message. For short jrr is fine |
