29 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Hi. Here's a little info about me, and the name I chose for this game. My name is Bob, and I'm from Denver, Colorado, USA. I'm an old guy now, I just turned 63, so I expect I'm much older that most vDip players. When I was 10, my family lived in Asia for a year, including about 5 months in Japan, where my younger sisters and I attending a small school that taught classes in English. My class got to take many field trips, including one to Himeji Castle, which is one of the beautiful white wooden castles from the feudal period, and it made a very big impression on me. When I started playing on vDip (I used to play primarily by email on other sites that are no longer active), I decided to name the non-anon games I start here after Himeji Castle.
29 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: *attended, not attending
29 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Cool!

Have you read any great Japanese history books? I’m particularly looking for something on the Sengoku Jidai.
29 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Sorry, I haven't read much of anything on Japanese history. I should, though.
30 Jul 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Ok
03 Aug 20 UTC GameMaster: Green voted for a Concede. If everyone (but one) votes concede the game will end and the player _not_ voting Concede will get all the points. Everybody else will get a defeat.
03 Aug 20 UTC Good game!
04 Aug 20 UTC Good game
04 Aug 20 UTC That convoy opening you used is counter-intuitive. It seems like a disaster in a 1-on-1 game for a player to fail to double their center count in the first year. But then it turned out to put you in a much better position for gaining centers in the second year, while I had already used up all but one of the centers I could easily reach from the home centers. So now I see why it seems so popular.
The second issue I had was that I failed to notice that this variant did *not* use the build-anywhere rule.
And thirdly, working strongly in the three-space water inlet you could easily reach was highly beneficial to you, and I didn't make much use of mine.
04 Aug 20 UTC Yep. I noticed the same things in previous Duo games I lost, and adjusted accordingly.
04 Aug 20 UTC I started a new game. This time it's open instead of having a password, but you're welcome to join if you want to help me continue to make my own adjustments. ;-)
05 Aug 20 UTC Coffee beat me to it. I’ll spectate!
05 Aug 20 UTC Sounds good. I'm about to play the first turn.
