15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: Never played this map before |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: For what it's worth, the Caliphate, Crusaders, Sirivijaya, and the Great Khans are all really powerful and everyone else is quite weak. While there haven't been many games yet here, the stats page (and experience playing it) clearly show those 4 corner states with a large advantage. So watch out |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: It would be great if you can get the variant creator again, one of the two whom plays here, as you did with the last game. |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: This is my first game on this map too, looking forward to it! |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: He's played in 1-3 earlier games in the series. I'll bump him up into the next round of invites provided there are still spots available after the initial group has had time to respond to this 1st round. |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: It seems I misinterpreted a rule again. 2) BUILD ANYWHERE RULE: Build in any Center you own. should instead read; 2) BUILD ANYWHERE RULE or “CHAOS BUILDS RULE”: Each faction may build a unit on ANY owned supply center that is unoccupied by ANY faction in the Build phase. I’m unclear, however, what happens if two or more powers try to build in the same center. I guess we will find out! |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: At least I catch them before the game starts. Maybe those of you that have played before can clarify the parameters of this rule for us. |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: You can only build in centers you own |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: So what are “chaos builds” then? From the vDip Special Rules for the game verbatim: “ Build Anywhere Rule: Sometimes referred to as 'Chaos Builds', this variant allows each faction to build an army or fleet on any owned supply center that is unoccupied in the adjustments (a.k.a. 'Build') phases.” |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: I do know that “Build anywhere” is a term used for “Build in any center you own” in multiple games on the site here though, which is why I originally had thought they meant that with this rule. But the usage of “chaos builds”and “factions” really clouds the meaning here. |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: Probably just an error in the translation from Australian to English |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: how exactly does this map work? will we disband before first moves or get a year to run wild and pick up centers? |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: You play year 1 with a lot of units then have to choose which to remove depending on how many centers you can grab |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: I was not aware of being able to build in an enemies center but never tried it in my one game on the map |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: i feel the balancing on this map is slightly off... |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: Thanks for the clarification. So, I originally had it right. IT IS: 2) BUILD ANYWHERE RULE: Build in any Center you own. IT IS NOT: Build in an enemies center. |
15 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: Invited the variant creator and queried him on the rule. Will give him a bit of lead time to respond before I go ahead fill the final spots. |
16 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: It is only builds in your own centers, I have played this map a few times |
16 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: That would be kind of bad, considering we got nations here that only have 2 home scs |
16 Jul 21 UTC | Spring, 1231: It's very unbalanced. |
