30 Mar 22 UTC [Austria]:Congrats Olma.
Man, I made some errors in this game. France, great work fending everyone off and holding your place. I should have laid off much earlier and worked to prevent the solo. Though I’m not alone there.
30 Mar 22 UTC [USA]:GG thanks everyone, I know this game has gone on for many many months including the site pause a few months ago.

I lost hope early as I thought despite a good start that I was destined to lose - in spring 1865 Russia and Britain forced two destroys on me and I thought the setback could be fatal. A succession of serious risk taking and lucky breaks resulted (like any gunboat good result tbh).

Apologies to Mexico for the brutality of the stab in 1867 when you were attacking Brazil, I hope you'll appreciate the necessity of it with the end result and hope you would have done the very same in similar circumstances. Mexico seems a tough draw especially if CSA or USA get an early dominance north of you.
Spring 1872 convoying behind the Brazil line is my favourite move I've ever made in a gunboat game, and despite this Brazil defended masterfully for another 14 move turns which was incredible imo, even capturing New Zealand somehow. I felt consistently pegged back and delay despite having the numbers advantage. [I now see it is you Ambassador so less surprising!]

Sorry for going for the solo win in the end - most of the game I was paranoid about WTA and trying to keep pace with and/or keep ahead of China, who I saw as having much more scope to expand to get 70 SCs than me. My rationale was the Indian Ocean remained competitive as China swung southwards and neither France nor Holland bested the other significantly. I crossed the Pacific too early to Kamchatka and Japan and then thought by trying to let the Dutch defend it would allow us to get the 4 or 5 way draw. That would have been Holland, France, China, Austria, USA - which is why you may have seen otherwise bizarre moves like me supporting Austrian units to Prussian territories. When it became clear that a solo run was on I regretted not pushing for West Africa and Australia a lot earlier, everywhere on the board except Ruhr was perfectly tied up in the last turn, with the seas creating the most stalemate lines, and I was deeply fortunate to be able to get the last SC.

That's also me done for this map forever now, phew....
Thanks all
30 Mar 22 UTC [Britain]:What a crazy convoy
30 Mar 22 UTC [USA]:Yes I couldn't break through any of the other lines, so just put as many spare fleets into a big convoy as possible at the end. This map is genuinely great for intercontinental convoys though, I got a few in across the game.
30 Mar 22 UTC [Japan]:Wow this game started a long time ago. I remember it vaguely, and aside from my opinion of the Chinese player, none of those memories are too fond :p

China - you played excellently and with the hand your were dealt with I would've proceeded about the same. No hard feelings you played really well.

Russia - fucked me repeatedly for no reason, and had no sense of what they were doing. As soon as I recover, they hand over all of Asia to China as well, ensuring I have an unending fleet of Chinese ships coming at me. Please learn from this experience on how to recognize and deal with threats. You and I were natural allies in the region.

Holland - I wish you could've communicated a bit better with Bismark early on. Or better yet, if you have all those units free just...attack Britain? You didn't even succeed in wiping out France and paid for it in the end. I really could've used support up north. Just a fleet sitting in Sunda would've helped loads.

USA - good job on the win. But, uh...I really thought you were coming to help me contain China. Autumn 1869 had you just moved to IZU we would've had a rough line completed. But instead you dotted me and China took everything (which was always going to be the logical conclusion to that scenario).
30 Mar 22 UTC [USA]:I don't remember my thought process at the time Japan but that seems a mostly fair comment. I think I may have judged China to be inevitable, I definitely saw it as a straight race between us from about that point onwards. Moving to Izu would have failed but yes Sapporo was not wise in retrospect, accelerated the demise and China took it anyway (I did commit there too late).
30 Mar 22 UTC [Japan]:Yes it would've failed, but the next turn with my unit in Caroline Islands helping out too it would've succeeded. And West Pacific would've been enough to keep China out of Bismark :)
31 Mar 22 UTC [CSA]:I apologize for being nothing more than a minor speed bump in this game
31 Mar 22 UTC [Brazil]:Haha Olmageddon, I'm not that good you had my on the ropes the whole time once I stupidly picked a fight with France shortly after buying in.

Well done on the well deserved win!
31 Mar 22 UTC [Russia]:Just saw this, and I know it was a long time ago but I thought I’d address Japan’s note. I did not play well, and gave up shortly after Austria and Germany attacked me. I was planning to put resources into East Asia first, since it seemed like there was going to be a stalemate on the western front. My biggest blunder was leaving a giant hole in my defend to China. I saw their rapid growth early and did not think I could outpace them without taking Japanese territory. I wanted at least SEO to connect PA to the rest of my territory, but I probably should’ve just left PA to defend or something. Lack of communication hurt there, and yeah, was my bad.
31 Mar 22 UTC [Prussia]:Stupid Austria
01 Apr 22 UTC [China]:i didnt realize for the solo in 70sc
if i did i wil l have stabbed france for get a slim chance istead of defending the undefendable
Russia :wow i never see a so stupid stab never took one of my center and crumble imediately at my counter attack

Britain explode from everywhere
i won against japan & holland by mere outnumbering them

France happy of the long understanding except when you build onetimein indochina
instead of inforcing africa and europa
it wasnotenough for protect you inindochina but you wasat an inch of thedecision ofwipe you outofthe region ifi knowfor the70c iwill have do it
Austria you playedwellbut thedecision ofattacking france was maybe the decisive factor of the american victory
