22 Sep 21 UTC Good game, Carthage!
22 Sep 21 UTC Agreed! Very good work closing it out. When I saw that the original Carthage player had left I was shocked as I felt that they had a good chance to win even then.

I thought about taking over Egypt when it was first available. Glad I joined in eventually, I have never played this variant before. I must ask Egypt though, why were you so insistent in focusing on me for much of the game even when Carthage was clearly starting to snowball. I tired sending signals for peace so we could set-up a stalemate line earlier. All well. Good match everyone!
22 Sep 21 UTC I wonder if Egypt thought they'd be more likely to survive in a one player win than if things stalemated
22 Sep 21 UTC That may explain their thinking early on, but I feel like it started to become pretty clear that they would make it to the end with a stalemate in the mid-game; once Carthage hit 11-13 centers.
22 Sep 21 UTC I honestly didn't notice your signals for peace. I'm not the best gunboat communicator. Rome was kind of right. I thought that if I turned completely to face Carthage that Persia would take me from behind, and I'd be eliminated. I thought that Carthage was already going to win, so I could only survive by fortifying my only place that I could reasonably hope to hold out on.
22 Sep 21 UTC Good game everyone! I was lucky to step into such a strong position. I think how Egypt played decided the game, if he had been more aggressive with me I think I would have struggled more in the North and Persia May have been able to turn the tide.
22 Sep 21 UTC I thought that might be the case Egypt. Not all moves appear on this map, so you have to go to the older maps under the Archive at the bottom of the page to see all moves. If you do, you'll see I tried to support one of your fleets westward. That is really the only way to communicate what you want another player to do. When that all sort of failed, I knew I had to send as many units to try to block Carthage as possible so I had to take Cyprus because I wasn't sure you'd head west to try to stop them.
