07 Nov 22 UTC Why did you try to eliminate me after I turned to hold off the Danes Hapsburg?
07 Nov 22 UTC I made a mistake, that’s all. You, France, and me all didn’t try hard enough to stop them. I’m most guilty of it, though.
07 Nov 22 UTC Good game all
07 Nov 22 UTC Good game! my respect to england who almost locked me in a nasty position when you started attacking me. I feel like Habsburg letting me stand in Saxony was crucial to overcoming england, thus giving me a free hand to expand whereever I wanted
07 Nov 22 UTC I would have tried to deal with the Danish on my northeastern border but England attacked me for the second time and the Hapsburgs were kind of rolling me in Italy. Good game though, I had fun killing Spain.
07 Nov 22 UTC Also what I really have to admit is how overpowered Denmark is on the map, especially in gunboats where there is no communication about how strong they are. The statistics already indicate it, but in playing I never felt too threatened because of the intense supply of possible SCs in the german area, a highly beneficial position against sweden which cant really expand and england which has barely any SCs at the start. Unless everybody around you unites and is not ambushed from behind, Denmark can just take its neighbours out one by one without either of them having a chance to get to a similar size and face it alone
07 Nov 22 UTC Yeah, there's definitely a power imbalance in this variant. I don't really have the right to talk, because I feel like France has the 2nd best position, but whoever made this definitely didn't create a fair northern starting position and then proceeded to dump a lot of SCs in the north, so whoever wins there has a great chance to win the game. If I was able to focus my attention towards Lorraine/Flanders and beyond, I might have been able to contest you there and take out half of your power base, but like I said I had to deal with a Spain and an England, and the constant Habsburg threat in northern Italy also made me dedicate some of my units there.
07 Nov 22 UTC I was rather annoyed at Sweden's complete lack of aggression toward Denmark.
07 Nov 22 UTC Yeah, it was a bit obvious from the start that Denmark would stab them eventually. However, it's a bit hard for Sweden to do much about the issue when half of their units are needed to defend against Russia in the east.
07 Nov 22 UTC I could have done something about Russia if Sweden hadn't insisted on attacking Warsaw with a fleet lol
07 Nov 22 UTC I mean it was kind of fun to attempt that.
07 Nov 22 UTC Its true, I had all the time I needed to prepare a proper assault on Sweden. But its sad that sweden as a position has essentially only the option to either go all out on Denmark or die early, and no alternate viable expansion options. Looking back at how I went into eastern europe I think that Sweden could be a really fun position if there was a proper buffer zone, an extra SC somewhere or some other kind of balancing
