28 Jan 23 UTC | Good game. I love the fog but I wish I could have seen how well Russia was doing. I am also glad that he only took one of my centers on the last turn. That bastard. |
28 Jan 23 UTC | Thanks, Czech, always a pleasure to see you in a game (albeit after the fact :). I like this win after being invaded by England in the north with German help. I think Russia has a distinct advantage in FoW by being able to play across stalemate lines without anyone knowing what’s going on. I definitely took advantage of the variant, especially by building in SCs that were invisible to anyone. My stab into Turkey was a backup plan in case I couldn’t get to 18 in the west and north. Once that cleared up, I didn’t pursue aggressively against Turkey anymore. One note, I think for the purity of the variant, in my view it should be hidden draw votes. I saw Turkey’s draw vote, which I interpreted as a potential signal to other players that someone was about to run away. That’s fine, of course, except in FoW it would be even more fun to play without that option. I must admit that I was less amused by Turkey’s cancel vote, one would typically only use it when there is something wrong or fishy going on (and even then I think contacting the moderators would be preferred). Not a big deal, I didn’t take it personally, but I wonder how others see this. |
28 Jan 23 UTC | The cancel vote was operator error. I was trying to cancel my first draw vote. I later figured out that I only had to toggle on the draw vote to turn it off. Then I realized I needed to keep the draw vote up in the hope that it could be achieved. |
28 Jan 23 UTC | I see, thanks Turkey, I remember making the same mistake once, haha. |
29 Jan 23 UTC | I knew the rest of us were in trouble when I finally saw the Russian army in Burgundy. I should have thought about it more when I saw that you had made it to the Piedmont, but it did not register with me. |
