13 Jul 23 UTC | Good game! |
14 Jul 23 UTC | gg all, surprised only a few eliminated! Was a pleasure working with you Germany. |
14 Jul 23 UTC | Yeah, I was really trying to push for more to be eliminated..... don't know why all decided not to lol, not sure I've seen a game of this size end with this many players alive before |
14 Jul 23 UTC | Japan was essentially walled off, Germany and France too dependent on each other to defend against Italy to consider stabbing. The only viable eliminations would be Britain or Austria. I have a personal philosophy not to stab a lone ally for the sole purpose of that ally's elimination. If I believed stabbing Britain could cause a domino effect of eliminations, or given me a chance at a solo, I would've happily accepted Italy's support into Madras. But I wasn't going to risk my stalemate line against Japan & Italy just to stab an ally and bring a draw from 7 to 6. |
14 Jul 23 UTC | It's a large draw size, but the solo threshold is less than 50%, which means draws if they happen tend to be larger. It's also a map which can be walled off fairly easily. Good working with you too France |
14 Jul 23 UTC | I am happy to see this game ended as for about a week or more my orders had been the exact same. Thankfully, Holland never tried to take me out, like I feared he would. I was walled off but my wall had a number of weak points which might have spelt disaster for me if they were ever tested. I probably would have been defeated if I had not retaken the Philippine Sea. If Russia had made common cause with any Asian power it would have been over for me. Instead Russia devoted six units to fight me whilst fighting everyone else and eventually I made a breakthrough which he could not reverse. I liked that period of the game, waiting for the draw not so much. |
