Since no one has stepped up to take my place yet, I will rule on the YCHTT and Raginglke297 dispute. Similar questions have come up in the past.

Rule 4 says that the challenge must be posted and a PM sent. I have always ruled this to mean that the challenge is valid when posted, but the 2 week time limit does not start until a PM has been sent. (per rule 9)

So, the Raginglke297 challenge is valid and not the YCHTT challenge. YCHTT will have 2 weeks from the time Raginglke297 sends a PM to accept or decline.

Is there any rule stating a maximum length of time allowed to send a PM?

Also, on an unrelated note, I sent fasces349 a PM the day of my challenge, Saturday Dec. 16. They accepted and said they couldn't play until Wednesday. (meaning yesterday) Do they have two weeks from Saturday or from Wednesday to start the games? Also, is the time limit two weeks?

Or you could just start the games since you obviously know I challenged you. Take me off the list.

Just my two cents, but while rules are nice and useful, perhaps this ladder tournament will be more fun for everyone if we don't read into the rules like into a bible? If there's a new player to the tournament, why not politely remind them of the PM rule etc. Everyone probably wants an opponent higher up, but come on...

There is no specific rule, that's what a moderator typically addresses. But I have usually given 2 weeks to resolve disputes.
Let's not get too hung up on the time limits. Give him 2 weeks from when he accepted.

I agree with Raginglke297 that you could have just made the games. The purpose of the PM is to make sure the opponent doesn't miss it in the thread, but you obviously didn't miss it. However, since Raginglke297 requested to be removed, I will remove him. You can challenge someone else now. Although, now that there are only 20 players, you may only challenge someone within 2 of you.

I would say yes, but since Fasces accepted, we should hear from Fasces first. If he is willing to cancel the challenge, then I would see no reason it couldn't be cancelled. Otherwise, you should wait the time needed.

But a cancel from Fasces349 would contradict my intention of playing with someone more active :)

I know. But this is a year long tournament. So, a little wait is ok. If it ran with the same intensity of other tournaments, it would demand too much time from everyone involved. The delays allow players to be involved in other games at the same time.

Regarding my challenge against Fasces349, it has been 15 days since I sent a PM to him and he hasn't started the games. He said on that day (Dec. 16) that he couldn't start until the following Wednesday. I sent him a PM requesting his map choice that Wednesday, 11 days ago. He hasn't responded. Should I swap places with him and remove him from the list?
