IA Map Bugs with New Variant
I've got a variant I'm adding called Incensed. In the playtesting, there are issues with the interactive map. Certain regions work just fine. But there are some regions that don't get highlighted or can't really be clicked on. I'm not sure what the issue is. Seems like it also depends on what browser is being used, too. Any variant creators run into similar issues or know what might be the cause/solution?

ER Team Game Revival
Hey Folks! I was recently thinking about the Europa Renevatio Team game we did a couple years ago and I think we can do it again, better this time. Among the improvements, it may be ideal to determine the teams ahead of time and make them public so we can try to come up with a "balanced" set of 9 teams of 4. Would anyone else (err... 35 others?) want to give it a shot?

I personally vote against Rinascimento because of the way the Turks are set up; I don't think they play particularly well into the team aspect.
I vote Fantasy. A map that has no openings that are well know is pretty good for a team game!
I think one of the enticing aspects of a team game is the chaos factor- Fantasy feels just a little too balanced for proper team play. Despite the glaring anachronisms and massive power disparities, I vote for World at War.

I think Rinascimento would be a fascinating option for a team game. Might be able to make some of the otherwise completely unviable powers viable. The Turks could just be teamed up with powers that they aren't forced into fighting, especially Naples. I recognize that won't be everybody's cup of tea, so happy to defer to either of the others. World at War could work given its historical setting, perhaps some sort of allies vs axis thing could be arranged?

I am strongly against Rinascimento. I've tried a 6v6 game on that map. Those countries with 1 center just kept bouncing their enemy every turn, and could not do anything else.
I also played 6v6 on Fantasy. I think this map is kind of Boring.
World at War may be a choice, but the teams have to be set before the game starts. Drafting doesn't seem fine on this.

Or perhaps we can wait for a few more players?

Actually yeah, if we get two more players we could do Gobble Earth. We would have to pick the teams beforehand though, the potential for a crazy unbalanced team is huge lol

We could decide which powers are on teams and then people join and are randomly assigned. In that case it might be less interesting though. I'm thinking like a 7v7 two teams type thing
Two teams is probably not ideal; too much gridlock for the regional powers (Austria will really be starved.) Maybe four teams of three and one team of two? Big five would be Britain, France, Germany, Russia and USA in that case.

I don't like the idea that 14 countries are divided into 3 or more teams. If it's 36 players we can do that, but with 14 I strongly prefer only 2 teams.

I actually strongly prefer any number higher than 2 teams, even with unequal numbers. to me, it seems 2 teams would away diplomatic aspects of the game and it would come down to pure tactics/which side can communicate with itself better. Eventually the game will come down to 2 players, but I imagine we'd implement "when one team collectively meets the solo requirement the game is over"

Team playing and diplomatic playing are two different sides. It will be pretty strange to mix them in a same game.
No matter how large is a team, one can always command his teammates, unless the game is gunboat.

Yeah, that's the thing. Two teams would likely just accelerate the game to a gridlock where only a couple of provinces change hands every so often, whereas more teams would lead to more action

Two teams will absolutely lead to gridlock if there are semi-competent players on both sides. Which, based on the lineup so far, is absolutely the case. The top strategists will basically give marching orders to allies in order to lock down a stalemate and try to progress from there. There's really not much of a point to playing a 7v7 IMO.

We're going to just have to have someone pick the details and say "who's in?" for that set of details. otherwise we'll just keep going in a circle.

I tried to not bunch them closely together, but made an exception with Colombia and Brazil since Colombia only has 2 centers. Sure it seems bad for Argentina alone on the continent, but Mexico being right there balances it out in my opinion.

My preferred team arrangement gives each team one European colonial, one American, and one Eurasian regional.

Vdip Local Meta
Hey guys! I'm curious what you guys think of the local meta here on Vdip, especially compared to other places (i.e. live-person tournaments, webdip, personal friend groups, other & etc.). I've never played anywhere outside of Vdip, having learned the game here and never expanding elsewhere, and I'm curious!

The Sandquest
So I've seen some players here go on some grand "quests" I'll say to play every variant on the site. I've decided I want to join the club and do so aswell, but I want to do so with some sort of cool "twist". Trying to solo every variant is a little impractical, and I'm not certain about something super simple like making them all gunboats. So anyone got some ideas?

Inherent Balance
I was thinking about my past games today, and I noticed a pattern: when I played or fought against a (mostly) sea power that started in the corner, that power tended to have the advantage because of their spawn place and unit composition on the map. Does anyone else feel like this is the case, or do you think that these types of powers are balanced?
For reference, I was thinking of Italy--Balkans 1860, Srivijaya--Known World 901, Madagascar--Africa, and Japan--Youngstown WWII.

What was the name of the East Asian map, that I believe was being playtested(?), where the countries were: China, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam(?), Indonesia, and Brunei?

Big hitters game
Interested in organising a game for folks interested in playing other big hitters. Not sure what the cut off should be, but would be good to get a mass of quality players interested and then we'll land on a general consensus if some aren't as big hitters as others.
