16 Jul 22 UTC | @Battalion - What was your strategy, i.e. why did you not attack Italy sooner? |
16 Jul 22 UTC | Hey sorry that German collapse was so drastic, sometimes when I take over these nations I try stuff and it doesn’t work |
17 Jul 22 UTC | Well played VanZ! I perhaps should have attacked Italy sooner, but don't think I really had a good opportunity. In the mid-game Germany was the main threat, and I definitely didn't have the resources to take Italy on. Stinky Will (penultimate German leader) and I made an alliance, and I was looking for a chance to move against Italy. Unfortunately I don't think Dale_Fuego spotted this when they took over, and I became distracted again. Italy always had a stronger presence in the med than I did, and I had no reason to build fleets other than to attack them, so there was never a chance of a surprise attack. I'd hoped to get a small jump on them in Spring '49, but they moved against me first (it would only have been small anyway, and unlikely to have been successful). I also tried not to push Britain harder than needed so that they could focus on Italy. I only took more than one of their Northern centres once they'd already collapsed. That's most of my thinking. I find gunboat very hard, so if you've got tips on how I could do it better or thoughts on when I should have attacked Italy I'd love to hear them. Good game all! |
