Interested in organising a game for folks interested in playing other big hitters. Not sure what the cut off should be, but would be good to get a mass of quality players interested and then we'll land on a general consensus if some aren't as big hitters as others.
give me a couple of months so i can requalify as a big hitter. my ranking took a big hit after i playtested the spain variant without knowing it was a ranked game

Hello everyone, I have decided to take up Amby's call and self-appoint myself organizer of this game. I won't be playing in it, but it seems a very exciting thing to watch!
Please correct any errors. Especially if you are in the "not sure" category, and you want to be moved to interested. Otherwise your inaction will lead to you being classified as "declined".
Additionally, in the interest of keeping this thread ~somewhat~ clean, please just PM me changes you want to make to your status. To make sure I don't miss a PM or something, I will post the FINAL DRAFT list on 2024-01-26 (goal: around 0100 UTC, but definitely before 2359).

Unfortunately, I think it makes sense with 21 currently interested to stick with 19 player Haven. This does mean some people won't quite make the cut, and that is not necessarily the best, but I think it will mean this game gets going quicker vs. waiting around for 29 more people to join a Divided States game. Additionally, those who don't quite make the cut can still serve as alternates in the event of a CD. I'm open to feedback on this point, but I think it is an unfortunate reality that anywhere there is a cutoff, someone will necessarily be left out.

Okay well the problem is I don't have anywhere near that number of points, so I would need someone else to set up the game with that buy-in, and then ask the mods very nicely to make me the game director.
Since I can only start a game with the number of vdip points I have (this is how I picked 45 lol).
The buy in can't be over 300, or there won't be enough people available to play. 250 leaves 20 people able to buy in, and I think it's possible that one person who said they were interested might end up backing out, so I think 250 is what it should be in order to actually make this happen.
Unless there is a consensus among the big hitters that it would be better to do a smaller map with a truly massive buy in. As a non-big hitter myself, I can't comment on what you all desire.

The next step though is I need someone with over 250 points available to go through the trouble of starting the game, and asking the mods very nicely to make me the game director.
If someone can volunteer to launch the game, I will send you all of the settings we are going to use.
You can put me as a backup player, if someone goes afk or needs a temporary sub. There seems to be enough people as primary players for now. I can send you my email to notify me when you need me, if you want?
ubercacher16: There is always an incentive in PPSC to go for the win, so wouldn't a true big hitter always go for that? By contrast, I could easily see (self-described) big hitters too scared to go for a win in WTA, afraid that they may lose all of their precious points, or lose interest in a WTA game if they're in a marginal position, since they think that they have nothing to gain from continuing to play.
I started this account so I could join in games set up by my school, but I didn't realize that I needed to model my username after specific formatting, so now I'm stuck with a username that doesn't fit the guidelines of the setup. does anyone know how one could go about changing their username on here?

[Speed Europa variant] moving from Burgundy to Ruhr should not be possible

As noticed by Tyran (user ID 2518) in the game "Wolf Pack v3" (game ID 58137) armies may move from Burgundy to Ruhr and vice versa (see the Map info tab of the variant's page) while the map doesn't say that. Maps on the external variant homepage also, so I suppose it is an error in the code, not the map.

IMHO a really great new variant with many options, constantly fluctuating balances of power, both fleets and armies with power, sensible offboard movement that makes stalemates hard.
