Ok, the first Chaos Game on the site has ended in a 5-way draw. Now, players can post their statements and discuss here.

Norway:

I think Norway really has good chances in the Chaos map. It's safe yet has good opportunities for development. I started off well, then Berlin went off to vacation. The sitter wasn't as smart, and so we screwed up, and then I stabbed Berlin, but Brest stabbed me. And then while I was not looking, StP got back his home SC. By then, Ankara and Budapest had grown very strong, so we sorted things out, kicked some people out of the game, and drew.

Good game to all.

Budapest:
Wow. all I can say. that game was insanity. In the beginning, I allied myself with Rumania and Vienna and Trieste, had to stab someone, so made it my goal to kick out Trieste. after he fell, Rumania had grown strong, so I began a plot to finish him, didn't work as expected, but got him out, soon after that, Vienna fell, and later fell Bulgaria. through this whole time, I was making alliances with the Turkish countries, and Ankara was wiping them out, before I had to worry about them. soon me and ankara had common borders, so we worked together. we wiped the entire south together, and started to spread. with a strange conflict up north, due to the stab of Berlin by Norway, we knew we could spread easy. so, we went after Italy. Than we allied with Portugal, finished off Italy and Germany, and what do ya know, only 5 of us left. that meant 1 of 2 things- Brest, Portugal, or Norway had to stab one of their allies, or me and Ankara had to fight. we were in negotiations with Portugal, but things started to breakdown between Ankara and I, so, eventually, we decided it was best to draw with the stalemate line formed almost completly anyways...

Ankara:
Third Chaos game for me, only one I survived to the end. Turkey as always is a nice defensive position of no one builds fleets, and with this variant, extra fleets are rare to be seen early. The first message I received was Smyrna saying he will support me into Con. However, then he goes boasting on global about how he will rule the south and split the map with a northern power. I don't know if he had any serious though in it, but I decided I didn't want to give him that chance. Bulgaria was my nest alliance mate. yet it could not flourish because we had trust issues in each other and eventually began to lie about our moves. I decided he had to go next, Unfortunately, I did not have the means to fight him alone so I enlisted help from Rome, Venice, and of course Budapest. The problem turned out to be that Venice and Bud didn't seem to like each other all too much and as Berlin began to come out as a power, I needed Bud more, thus the Italians soon departed. From there, we decided to bring Portugal into our alliance to protect the med and he soon brought in Brest. Norway blocked my advance and forced the draw. In retrospect, I wonder what would have happened if we kept Port out and I tried to bust through down south.

Probably would have been better. It is quite risky to trust you not winning (e.g. stab of Bud).
Greece:
Allied with as many people possible early to take down Serbia. Bulgaria and Rumania told me they would support me in. Instead, Rumania supported Bulgaria into Serbia. Later, after Smyrna asked Bulgaria to support them into Greece, I was offered to support move Bulgaria back into Bulgaria, if he did not help Smyrna. This is where I made my fatal mistake. I did not reply, not thinking I had to because it was a deal that would be stupid to refuse. When I returned to the computer, he thought my silence was a no, so he supported Smyrna into Greece, when I retreated into Albania, he said he would support me, but that one was just a stab.

Rome:

I'll write more later, but let me just say that I took my stupid pills before this game because I kept believing Budapest after he stabbed me four times.

And never should have turned on Naples.
Also, you guys should all join the sequel to this chaos game I made, global press only, 5 D, the game id is on another thread titled: Global Messaging Only Chaos. The title of the game itself is called: Chaos Strikes Again!

Critique of variant "Hundred"
Premise: While "Hundred" is an interesting concept for a Diplomacy variant, its geography and number of players reduce the number of potential outcomes such that the variant is not worth playing.

question regarding a variant.
How hard would it be, If there isn't one already, to make a variant where Switzerland is passable? I would like to see how that would play out, and would love to see such a thing implemented here.

Haven: Discussion about the custom-icons...
What do you think about the custom icons for the Haven variant?
Each power has it's very different icons for it's armies and fleets (and there's a small overview in the upper right corner).
Can you recognize the different powers by it's icons? Or would you like a "flag" for the units in no-sc and sea areas?
