What Happened

All of my old games seem to have disappeared from the 'my games' bit of the site. When were these removed?

game mechanics

i will be using our gobble earth map as template.
1. STP support hold Moscow
2. Moscow support move Ukraine to sevastapol
if Astrakhan bounces Moscow, does Moscow lose its capability to support move?

because according to the logic of the game:

1. if a unit bounces a unit that is commencing SUPPORT actions, (that supporting unit is not SUPPORT HELD by another unit), the support actions have to be forfeit in order to HOLD itself (defend).

so if that unit in Moscow has been given a SUPPORT HOLD, then qualitatively speaking, Moscow has two holds,
so it does not need to switch to hold when it was bounced, right? because when it was bounced, it still has a HOLD in reserve, so it can still do SUPPORT action.
is this correct?

if moscow is attacked, its support for sev-ukr is gone...

but then the rule states that if Moscow was attacked, it loses its hold, but if it was held by another unit, then it still has one hold...

The rules on this site are a brief overview and may not make it clear.
In the official rules, Moscow's support of Ukraine to Sevastopol is cut.
STP's support hold does not help.

i guess the wording sucks. see it that way: Imagine some soldiers, who have fortified a nice position and set up some artillery. While undisturbed, this artillery can be used to support attacks or holds in adjacent territories. But when an enemy comes along, the soldiers need to man the trenches and forts in order to defend their lines. There are not enough people to operate the artillery at the same time. Now of course, art from neighboring spaces may help in the defense, but it is still just help and the soldiers of this particular fort need to do the defending themselves.

Any unit attacked has any support it would have provided cut no matter how many units are supporting it to hold. The only exception to this rule is if the unit was supporting an action against the unit that attacked it. C can't cut A's support of B to C, but C can cut support of A's support of B to Deven if E and F both support hold A.

A couple more notes on supports and attacks:

A unit won't cut the support of another unit belonging to the same country. So if A supports B to C and D (same country as A) moves toward A, the support will not be cut.

Finally, a unit cannot dislodge or assist in dislodge get another unit from it's own country. So an attack by A on B with support from C will not dislodge B if either A or C is of the same country. It will however bounce with an attack by D on C with E's support.

Preview mode problems

Just updated to the latest wedDip code.

Please report any problems in the ModForum.
This was a large patch and there might be some problems. I will try to fix them as soon as possible.

Please note: There are some additional (wrong) RR-stats, as webDip installed our RR system on their site too. At the moment there additional stats do nothing and are wrong. I will migrate the data to the new system if it's working on webDip.

Rating system favors draws

Rating system in vDip seems to have made some sort of "poker" out of Diplomacy. I have a suggestion: draws should only give half the points.

Closing a Game

Hi,
there is a game that has been paused for over a month and we can not unpause it, because there are users who are not online anymore.
It would be nice, if some adminstrator could close it and give the coins back to everyone.

it's ferrara in good position, and venezia in very good position ... the game is not spoiled due to the ban at all, so it's a good chance to jump in.

Bug in Cold War?

In the new Cold War 2-player variant, fleets can move between Yugoslavia and West Germany. Either fix this issue or label it as a canal (such as Egypt or Panama)

Jack‘s SRG Tourney

Giantslaying tourney (aims to begin by jan)

Jan is my birthday month and what better way than to play. my favourite variant-- imperial diplomacy II! Looking for 6 pros (top 15%) and 6 not so pros to attempt some giant slaying(political puppets and the like). There will be one to three rounds depending on you guys.
