I think they have one of these for WebDip, so I figured I might as well make one for VDip too. Post on this thread or send me a PM with your location (no need to be precise with this - you can just give a nearby city if you want to) and I'll add you to the map.
http://goo.gl/maps/EPgiV - This link is also on my profile page, so it can still be found when this thread dies.
I'm not saying your wrong, but the graphics and user base on vdip is so small. if those people havent been sued (which by your logic they should, they even give away blatant spoilers in game) then surely vdip would be alright. were also not for profit
There have been attempt at creating Westeros maps for Diplomacy, and some of them have some good ideas. All of them need refining, play testing, modifications, and studies of playability. If this process took place it would be a pretty neat thing. It could even be a candidate for a joint venture with Martin and Hasbro one day is someone had the vision and the ability to crack Martin's stubbornness. But for the time being the folks here seem to be shying away from the idea in the interests of avoiding any liability. Sad, but a wise choice probably. With that said there's nothing stopping the project form evolving in the PBEM realm.
Such a map would need a lot of refinement, especially in sea spaces and in deciding what areas are impassible. I've seen variants that almost completely wall off the Vale of Arryn, which is no good.
I would like to test the map I posted above (as link). As I do not believe in getting the permission on a public server I suggest an e-mail game (I could master it using a local server - thanks to Oli). Anyone interested?
I'd be interested.. this has so much potential if not for the (legitimate) copyright issues. You could even do a larger map that would incorporate Easteros, and the Free Cities which add more sea spaces, potentially more powers, etc.
I didn't create the map but merely participated in minor changes in the lastest version. I also feel there should be as little spoilering as possible (e.g. no specific rules) and adding Essos might just do too much in this regard.
I made a hand drawn version for my own pleasure using the 7 great houses as players and an Essos version with the 9 Free Cities and slaver cities as players. The Essos one is kind of messy though...
Have you guys seen this yet? It's been around for a while that airborne made a while ago. Does it look okay? I've never read books or seen the show so I don't know...
I modified that one quite a bit and just hasn't updated the page yet. The problem with Westeros and the way the map is the Riverlands and Crownlands makes for great neutral space but in the south; The lands of the Reach, Dorne, and Stormlands are clearly defined and controlled.
I would like to, but am about to go to a camp this next week, so if the game does not start by that time I would like to play, and if it does I would like to play in the next game if there is one.
Hello. Just signed up because I wanted to ask some questions.
What are the differences between vDip and webDip? Why do they look so similar? Was there a schism somewhere along the way? Are they two separate sites; can I have an account at each? Opinions of webDip?
gameID=13235 This was one of the most irritating games I have ever played. I was Spain. I posted a thread a few weeks back about being aware of SCs needed to win. This was the reason.
Are you like me and had people describe the NBA Finals to you as the "old" Spurs against the "young" heat? There are exactly three players on the Heat's 15 player roster who are younger than the mean age of the Spurs 15 man roster. The median aged Spur is Tiago Splitter. For the Heat it is Udonis Halam. Five year age difference for those of you scoring at home.
Hello everyone, I've been developing another (very different) variant on the lab. This one is Europe during the First Crusade. I'm starting my first test game so I need 6 others to join. The link is here http://lab.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=94 Tell me what you think and join up!
here's the game url. Germany is crippled, but your entry could turn the tide... not gonna tell you which side to pick, but I think it'll be clear what choice must be made. good luck.
Stemming from the recent thread re: cooking recipes, I came up with an idea for a game. This is directed particularly at Guaroz, mainly because he expressed interest in the culinary arts, and hails from Italy; however, the offer is there for anyone else who might be interested. Please read below.
I am leaving for my honeymoon on Monday and have recently learned I will have no internet connectivity while I'm gone. I currently have 5 open games: Alcavre, Mystery Diplomacy, Celtic Britain, Indians of the Great Lakes and Colonial 1885 (though I expect Mystery Countries and possibly Celtic Britain to be resolved by monday).
If anyone will do me the favor I would appreciate it. I don't want to CD in my games and I have never missed a turn.
About the Italian Rinascimento variant, it's one of my favorite variants and definitely one of the more meticulously made ones, but "Tyrrhenian Sea" is misspelled :/
gameID=14376 Autumn 1903. Notice that three units (Sevastopol, Black Sea, and Wales) were simultaneously ordered to Armenia, none of them under support. The move from Wales succeeded; the others did not.
This should be considered an error and bug-checked in the Ankara Crescent variant.
On a suggestion from PE, I am interested in finding those people on this site who like to play competitive Diplomacy - the way it was first created. No pre-arranged draws, no unbreakable alliances...play to win, just like the objective says.
hi! i will be away during the next weekend, including friday, and i am afraid i wont be able to charge my smartphone or get internet access otherwise...as i have quite some games, it would be nice if two or three of you could take over for the time :)
Please, new request : units sorted by alphabetical order on the orders sheet.
I am playing my first Modern Diplomacy II game and I have had the HUGE pleasure to notice that my units are sorted by alphabetical order on the orders sheet !
It is so much easier and clearer to find my units that way ! Would it please be possible that units are sorted by alphabetical order on the orders sheet in every variant ?
