World War Two Diplomacy (Global Variant)
I was thinking about how a WW2 variant would look for Diplomacy if the game extended itself across the globe (involving Japan, China, Australia, Brazil and the US). Any ideas?
So far, I have these countries as powers:

British Empire (minus Australia, South Africa and Canada)
Australia
South Africa
Canada
United States
Japanese Empire
Brazil
French Empire
Germany
Italian Empire
Poland
USSR
China

The British Empire would start out with supply centers in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cairo, Aden, Nairobi, Delhi, Madras and Rangoon.

Canada would start out with supply centers in Vancouver, Ottowa, Toronto, Quebec, Whitehorse ( in Yukon), Montreal and St. Johns (in Newfoundland).

South Africa would start out with supply centers in Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Windhoek, Lesotho, Harare and Lusaka (so it would encompass South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Zambia)

Australia-New Zealand would start out with supply centers in Sydney, Darwin, Perth, Brisbane, Wellington, Hobart, and Melbourne.

The United States would start out with supply centers in Boston, Washington, Detroit, Dallas, San Francisco, Hawaii, Manila and Anchorage.

The USSR would start out with supply centers in Archangelsk, Leningrad, Gorky, Moscow, Sevastopol, Stalingrad, Omsk, Kiev, and Vladvostok.

Any other ideas for supply centers for France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Poland, Brazil and China?

Germany could have supply centers at, Munich, Berlin, Kiel, and Ruhr
*****UPDATED LIST OF POWERS*****
British Empire (including Canada, Australia and South Africa)
United States
USSR
French Empire
Nazi Germany
Italian Empire
Japanese Empire
China

***COUNTRIES AND SC's***

Germany would have supply centers at Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Kiel, Cologne, Dresden and Prague to start.

France would have SC's in Brest, Paris, Marseille, Maginot, Saigon, Phnom Phen Algiers, and Timbuktu.

Italy would have supply centers in Milan, Venice, Rome, Naples, Tirana (Albania), Tripoli, Addis Adaba and Mogadishu.

The United States would start out with supply centers in Boston, Washington, Detroit, Dallas, San Francisco, Pearl Harbor, Manila and Anchorage.

The USSR would start out with supply centers in Archangelsk, Leningrad, Gorky, Moscow, Sevastopol, Stalingrad, Omsk, Kiev, and Vladivostok.

The British Empire would start out with supply centers in London, Edinburgh, Cairo, ,Madras, Rangoon, Delhi, Quebec City, Vancouver, Nairobi, Syndey and Darwin.

The Japanese Empire would start out with supply centers in Tokyo, Iwo Jima, Sapporo, Hiroshima, Seoul, Manchuria and Okinawa.

China would start out with supply centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Canton, Chungking, Fuchan, Sinkiang and Xian.

Good idea and good job! Sounds interesting! I'm not enough experienced to help you, but I support the idea.

You should draw out your map and post your ideas here:
http://forum.webdiplomacy.net/

You'll be able to catch a developer's attention better that way.
Yeah, I'm already doing the same thing over on WebDip:

http://www.webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?newsendtothread=977926&viewthread=977926#postbox
Here is an updated version:

Powers:
Commonwealth Forces (British Empire + Commonwealth Nations like Australia, Canada, South Africa...)
French Empire
Italian Empire
Japanese Empire
Nazi Germany
USSR
USA

All Sc's are the same except for the fact that the Commonwealth Forces gain a SC in Cape Town (fleet), lose a SC from Vancouver and gain one in Hong Kong (fleet). France's supply center in Phnom Phen is replaced with one in Hanoi, giving it access to China. However, Beijing and Fuchan have standing units (armies) that are dislodged with support.

China's supply centers are neutral and accessible from the Soviet Union, Japan and Britain,

Turkey will be added into the mix to counter the Soviet presence:
Turkey:
F Ankara
A Constantinople
F Smyrna
F Izmir
A Adana

They only have 5 SC's, but they can directly compete in several areas, allowing for development.

Also, Germany has the following home SC's:
Nazi Germany:
F Kiel
F Berlin
F Wilhelmshaven (which means that Kiel only borders the Baltic, while Wilhelmshaven borders the Heligoland Bight)
A Cologne
A Munich
A Vienna
A Dresden
A Prague
A Konigsburg

Neutral SC's in Europe as are follows:
Spain
Portugal
Iceland
Belgium
Holland
Denmark
Norway
Sweden
Estonia
Latvia
Hungary
Serbia
Croatia
Romania
Bulgaria
Greece
Crete
Danzig
Krakow
Pinsk
Warsaw

Can you guys name some neutral SC's for Africa, given the time period?

an image of the variant you are wanting to build is REALLY useful. A good place to start looking at how to make a variant for phpDiplomacy is here:

See if it works

Very nice, I like the careful center balance and simultaneous weighting of Europe. One thing I might suggest would be to add Brazil or Argentina, so that America doesn't have free reign over the West.
brazil will be added
Check that, Brazil has standing, non-moving armies to prevent a complete sweep of the continent. The same goes for China.

The Philippines are under the USA.I have finished creating this map, complete with all the borders outlined in black. What do I do now?
Synapse (814 D)

I doubt you have finished the map? Lets see
Synapse (814 D)

Each province needs a unique colour and then you need to save the file as indexed (create colour pallette). Your borders should also be 1px wide with no or very little blocking

You need a small map (around 600x600 dimensions) and a large map (1000x1000) and both need to be indexed. You need smallmapnames.png and largemapnames.png with all your names (font aliaising off and hinting off) and supply centers
How do I color the seas the exact color for sea and the neutrals the exact color for neutrals?
Synapse (814 D)

www.vdiplomacy.com/wiki

I imagine you in fact have quite a lot of work to do yet. Download a simple variant from this website and start replacing the files. As I said you need smallmap.png, smallmapNames.png, largemap.png and largemapNames.png before you can even begin coding.
Updated Colored map:

http://postimage.org/image/6rg2yzr7h/
OK, so I've finished creating all 4 necessary images to get the variant ready to be coded into php...............I've changed it drastically, and here is what it should be like now:

There are 6 powers (British Empire, French Empire, Italian Empire, Japanese Empire, Nazi Germany and the USSR)

The map is the Youngstown map, with border changes to reflect those borders just before Germany invaded Poland.

The SC's are as follows:

British Empire (9 SC's):
F London
A Liverpool
F Edinburgh
A Cairo
F Aden
A Delhi
F Madras
A Calcutta
F Singapore

French Empire (7 SC's):
F Brest
A Paris
A Marseille
A Bordeaux
F Algiers
F Saigon
A Cambodia

Italian Empire (7 SC's):
A Milan
A Rome
F Naples
A Albania
F Tripoli
F Mogadishu
A Ethiopia

Japanese Empire (7 SC's):
F Sapporo
F Kyoto
A Tokyo
F Osaka
F Formosa
A Seoul
A Shendong

Nazi Germany (7 SC's):
F Kiel
F Berlin
A Cologne
A Munich
A Vienna
A Prague
A Breslau

USSR (7 SC's):
F Leningrad
A Moscow
F Sevastopol
A Stalingrad
A Omsk
A Irkutsk
F Vladivostok

Alright, now speak to Oli and he will make you a lab
thanks
Like the map. Although I suggest that Australia is broken up more on traditional state lines and that instead of a neutral SC in Tasmania (why? It's got no strategic value!) it should be based instead in Sydney. But that's the Australian in me.
Synapse (814 D)
12 Mar 13 UTC
China should be a power..
Synapse (814 D)
12 Mar 13 UTC
Also you'll find if you call USSR it will abbreviate to USS or U.S, hence why I chose Soviety Russia for my variant (SOV)
Ok, I'll implement those changes...however, Oli didn't do anything when I posted the map. Should I PM him?

@Ambassador: check this link for the newest version of the map

1000/1200px Layout?
I think it would be a good idea to increase the width of the layout from 800px to 1000px or 1200px. The reason for this is to make more space for variant maps which are too large to be <750px. Thoughts?
