Classic 1898 Variant adaptation
I do the adaptation for 1898 variant. Who knows the author of the variant to mention him in the description. Or it's Hasbro itself?

Tactics
In year one when you just meeting everyone, maybe there anonymous but for sure you don't know any of them. How do you know who to trust?
They can be lying through their teeth and text doesn't show tone of voice or eye contact so you have no idea. If you believe them they may stab you. If you don't you venture into a DMZ and piss them off. Ask around to others and you get rumors or nothing. This game seems so much better suited to face to face.

Classic Mini-Tourney - Is there interest?
I thought about making a mini-tourney - comprising a single game - using a similar scheme to most Face-to-Face scoring systems.

Basically it'll be a Classic game, running until Fall 1907 and a PPSC structure. The bet would be 100 points - for a ultimate pot worth 700 points.

Unable to enter certain orders. How to contact GM
Can someone help. I am playing one of the odder variants. New for me. I’ve read the variant page repeatedly and seems I ought to be able to enter a certain order. But it’s not available as an option. (Maybe I’m missing something. Or maybe a bug). Emailed the mods. But how do I contact GameMaster min a gunboat game?
Thanks

Some of you with a bit more experience at vDip can clue me in here.

How does vDip currently adjudicate when more than one player meets the SC requirement for victory simultaneously? More details below.

I am into model railroading as well as fine scale modeling (military), and balsa & tissue aircraft building. What are you all into?

But do you actually *do* anything specific like go to political debates or attend philosophical debates and such?

For me, most of my hobbies revolve around video games. Right now it's Civ 5 and CS:GO that eat up most of my time. However, I also enjoy programming, watching anime, keeping up with the news, and discussing politics (in a civilized manner mind you, everyone you talk with is still a human and can be persuaded to your side with the right techniques).

Pretty sure RUFFHAUS is into phychedelics and Mapu does human taxidermy, while BobRoss was telling me about his collection of bottled farts.

Beer drinking, hell raising... I used to play soccer on several teams, but my knees are wrecked, and those days are over. I have bounced around in the World of Warcraft universe for years, but I'm on another long sabbatical from that.

I should also throw in hiking. I live in the foothills of some smaller mountains, so I can get to some pretty good hikes in under an hour's drive from my house. However, when I'm either in college or grad school, I'd enjoy doing a road trip to do some of the bigger hikes out west.

I was never really into Hiking, but I got into Pokemon Go recently and that's had me walking around a hell of a lot (including wandering around the park & canal at 2am at times, which is actually surprisingly relaxing).

I'm aware that I'm a year late to it, but that's actually pretty awesome. Barely any server crashes (which were apparently a huge issue on release) and I have some friends who are happy to go out pokemon-hunting with me despite having not touched it for 9 months prior to me getting it.

Aside from that, I'm really not an active person. Hobbies mainly revolve around gaming (love Civ 5 & other strategy games, story-heavy games, and I held a speedrunning world record for a Rayman game for about a year), programming and messing around with video editing.

Hiking. I live near the Rockies and go every chance I can get.
Swimming. Got my lifeguarding a long time ago and just love swimming. The three dimension movement options always made me happy.
Board games. (Probably obvious one being on this site)
Piano. #Best instrument.

And a bunch of lamer sounding hobbies.

I'm a hobbyist at magic. I do some street performance and the occasional venue. I'm sometimes paid for this, but it is a trivial part of my income and I still treat this as more a hobby than even a secondary profession.

Dr. Recommended, I enjoy it. Perhaps the best part of it for me is that both of my kids (11 and 9) decided that they like it. I've built stage shows for them for the last two years for their school talent show, and they've even played a restaurant / dinner theater and other small stages. They've worked out this stage personality where they pretend to bicker, while actually assisting each other in making impossible things happen. It's great!

They've done bigger shows than I have. :-) I'm a not-so-great magician in his 40's. But for a 9-year-old and 11-year-old, they're amazing. People humor them when invited to watch them perform and have their "We're going to make the kids feel good about themselves." face on. Then when they actually fool them, it kills them dead. Two kids levitating an audience member four feet off the stage horizontally isn't what you expect from a couple of kids. :-)

May seem obvious but I'm heavy into board game. Particularly euro board games that revolve around strategy instead of rolling dice *cough* ameri-trash *cough*. My collection is nearing 30 games and I fear I'll get there soon.

I grew up playing cards with my grandparents and have enjoyed any and all card games I've learned. As a kid I started collecting decks from places I visited and am over 120 different decks now from places I've visited and cool ones I've stumbled across.

Last biggest hobby that's soon to be dormant is golf. Always loved it despite the frustration and disappointment it provides. Actually just shot the best round of my life (77) today after work which felt great!

I'll throw in a couple seconds to drinking (RUFF, Dr. R. and kaner, cheers!) and Pokemon Go (1 pokemon away from finishing my regional pokedex captainmeme!)

Apart from my collection of bottled farts (haha, thanks for that doc), I am very much invested in finishing my MA in Philosophy. Though i'd say my true passion lies with the Asian religions/teachings and contemporary art.

Not much of a gamer (apart from diplomacy) really. Instead i'd like to be busy with Photography, Photoshop, Poetry, Movies etc (some in an active, some in a passive role).

Drinking beer is also a skill i'm cultivating quite frequently and apologies for placing myself on a high horse here, but I can say i'm quite good at it.

Also reading, skating and of course gaming both virtually and on boards.

I sing.
@GOD - I still have a pipe a couple times a week and the occasional cigar (never did cigarettes - nasty things), but since my heart attack, I've sold off 6 or 7 boxes from my humidor and only have 3 nearly full ones left that are also for sale. I decided living was better than enjoying a daily pipe and a cigar every Saturday and Sunday.

In fact, I got back into modeling of all sorts to keep my mind focused and not thinking about having a pipe or cigar in the evenings. Healthier and not really any more expensive considering the cigars I bought cost $7 to $12 a stick (typically $150-$250 per box of 20-25). Some were more at upwards of $30 per in a box of 10, but those were Churchills I could smoke for 90+ minutes and truly relax with a scotch (speyside single malts are the best). I've also cut way back on the scotches, vodka martinis, and sea breezes.

Is England* vs Turkey truly balanced?
The stats spread on England* vs Turkey is innocuous enough. England* wins 55% of games which do not end in a draw, Turkey wins 45%. England is favored, but not to the extent that Turkey can't win; the game is not balanced, but it also isn't drastically skewed either way.

However, I have recently encountered an opening from England that I'm struggling to counter as Turkey.
